Essential WordPress Plugins for SEO

wp

Since its launch in 2003, WordPress has evolved into one of the web’s best platforms for bloggers, charities, and businesses alike. With thousands of free and paid plugins available, this versatile CMS has been adapted and modified for use by governments, Fortune 500 companies, and some of the world’s most well-known entertainers.

There’s more to WordPress’s immense popularity, however, than just its easy-to-use control panel and massive flexibility. From post titles to site structure, WordPress is undoubtedly the best content management system available for SEOs. With the right plugins, this user-friendly CMS can become a powerful online marketing platform.

Preston SEO agency Custard Media have provided these five WordPress plugins to help you get the most from your WordPress-powered website.

1. SEO Friendly Images

This helpful plugin automatically adds titles and alt tags to any images uploaded to your website. These tags are incredibly important for ensuring that your images are visible in Google Image Search. Many webmasters make the mistake of ignoring Google Image Search, assuming its traffic is largely worthless compared to typical search traffic. This is a big mistake – one that this helpful, hands-off plugin helps to solve.

2. Google XML Sitemaps

Generate custom sitemaps for Google, Yahoo, and Bing to use when indexing your website. XML sitemaps are online roadmaps for search engines – lists of all of the pages that make up your website, along with helpful directions to each. This helpful plugin automatically generates an XML sitemap for your website to make it as easy as possible for Google to index your pages. A better indexing rate means more pages in Google’s index and a greater level of visibility in search.

3. WordPress SEO by Yoast

This super helpful plugin makes it easy to optimise your website’s design, structure, and content for optimum SEO success. Easily adjust which pages Google are visible to Google, optimise for RSS, and generate XML sitemaps with this useful plugin. As well as making it easy to optimise your WordPress site’s settings, the WordPress SEO plugin offers helpful feedback on the length of your content, your page title, and your meta descriptions. Or if you’re not a fan of the Yoast plugin, maybe try this next one…

4. All-in-One SEO Pack

With over 10 million downloads, the All-in-One SEO Pack could be one of the most popular WordPress plugins of all time. This comprehensive SEO plugin helps with XML sitemap generation, Google Analytics integration, and even URL structure. Other helpful features include a built-in API that’s compatible with other plugins, an assortment of custom page title and meta description fields, and built-in security to keep your website protected from hacking attempts.

5. Social Media Tab

Social media is becoming increasingly essential for successful SEO. From likes and shares to retweets and upvotes, the metrics used by popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter are starting to play a large role in your search rankings. This simple plugin adds social media buttons to your website that allow visitors to vote, share, and retweet your content with ease. From Flickr to Reddit, every major social network and online community is featured in Social Media Tab’s index.

I think plugins add immense power to a WordPress site, particularly for non-programmers.
I haven’t come across the SEO friendly images plugin before. It looks like it would be very handy, especially given the number of times I forget either an alt tag or a title tag.

Essentially Yoast give big impact on traffic… And been thinking if I’m going to use the XML map… Looking forward for any reviews and positive feedback on it.
