Though I’m not feeling overwhelmed today, I do at other times. Thanks for the encouragement because Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Exactly, Tracy!
Last month went very smoothly and this month has been a little more challenging. There is so many things that I want to accomplish but I’m encouraged by what you said today to do just one little thing today, so I will do that! Thanks Tanya!

Great to hear, Tabitha! Sometimes it’s all about the baby steps…
I am overwhelmed most days! Getting started is tough, I’m working on making better use of my time and setting specific work hours. I am new to WordPress and just trying to get everything set up is enough to overwhelm me, not to mention that although I have massive ideas, I haven’t actually started writing content yet. I agree with the ‘just cross one thing off the list’ approach, although at this rate I feel like it will take me YEARS to get things moving…..looking for a better way. :/
Kimi, keep in mind that getting started initially is about the hardest part. The overwhelm will pass as you get to know the software better and figure out your own groove. Keep plugging ahead and if you have any specific questions, just let me know and I’ll do what I can to help!
I’m to the point now where it’s time to start approaching companies about advertising opportunities. This is completely outside my comfort zone and I have many questions including:
- Do I need to have a media kit? If so what should it consist of?
- How much do I charge for ad space? Is there a general guideline? For example, a certain # of Pageviews per month = # of $
- What stats do I promote?
- What is the best way to approach companies (email, phone calls, etc)?
I’d LOVE to get advice from others who have done this before.
Thanks!

Danielle – this post is a good place to start when it comes to media kits…

As for what to charge, I would look at other blogs in your niche with similar readership to yours and see what they’re charging – and then decide, ultimately, what YOU want to charge.
Thanks Tayna!

Feeling a little overwhelmed with wanting to do giveaways and not being able to find any sponsors! Feels like I’ll never be able to host a giveaway.
Chelsea – I was just checking out your blog – love the look of it! One quick suggestion… do you have a facebook and twitter page? I would make links to those pretty obvious on your home page. This will help potential sponsors see your reach.
Hi I have read your words they are actually coming from heart as I know when first time I try to write something I was totally blank but I start reading other blogs and taking ideas from them after some time I make my own blog of hub page that was free but that was to make sure I can read my blog was about a car and I was surprise that goes good.
Your blog will motivate newbies.

I originally signed up for your online blogging class to explore whether blogging was going to be a solution to my future growth. I am early retired from special education teaching , have major health challenges, develop better focus and feel journaling will allow me to grow.
I am very interested in expanding but cannot spend money to so would like to do this gradually.
Even small steps can be progress, Kerry!
I haven’t been blogging for very long and when I started I had no idea the world I was entering. What I’m finding trouble with are basic functions. How to set up links or even display pictures how I want them. I feel like this holds me back. It should be obviouse, but I’m missing something…right now I feel like I’m just logging a journal entry, nothing special.

Hi, Melissa – we’re actually in the process of developing a site, CafeBlogelina.com, to be launched next month that will include tutorials on those types of things!
My biggest hurdle right now is website development. I know what I want the website to show, but I’m having difficulties achieving my vision. Outside of that, traffic to my website appears to be an issue as well.

I have been using blogger for a little less than a year, but I want to have a more polished and professional looking blog so I can really grow readership. I just have no idea how to do that! I am thinking of switching to a .com blog, but I feel intimidated and clueless.
Ashley – switching to your own domain and your own hosting with wordpress on it is a great place to start. Check out my recommended resources for moving your blog over: http://www.blogelina.com/recommended-transfer-resources/
