5 Blogging Goals For the Week (Plus Link Up To Yours!)

How did you do on your blogging goals from last week?  While I didn’t get everything done on my list, I did make some progress which I’m excited about!  The progress made me ready to dive into this week and get some added things crossed off my list…

My 5 Goals From Last Week Were

  • Write One Guest Blog Post.  Time got away from me this past week so, while I did some research to find out what blogs I would like to guest post on and topic ideas for each of them, I didn’t actually get a post written.  So, while I’m moving in the right direction, I need to add this goal to this week’s list again.
  • Taxes! Got done what I needed to with taxes this week – woohoo!  I’m caught up on my state taxes and will tackle the federal ones toward the end of the month.  (Don’t forget about my tax tips for your blog and be sure to check out TurboTax as an easier way to figure your self-employed or business taxes!)
  • Leave A Comment Each Day On Another Blog.  I did this for two of the days last week, but need to get it done every day this coming week!  I’m seeing that I still need help with my organization skills – so am excited to post about all the great ideas you have shared this past week in tomorrow’s post!

My 5 Goals For This Week

  • Write One Guest Blog Post.  Yep, moving this one over from last week.  Guest blogging is such a great way to increase your traffic and I want to start consistently doing it here at Blogelina.  So, I’m setting aside some of my afternoon blogging time on Wednesday to a post written and emailed to one of the blogs I’ve chosen this past week.
  • Schedule February Facebook Updates for 365 Days of Blogging Tips.  I’m loving Hootsuite for allowing me to load up a month’s worth of blogging tip updates for my Facebook page and account.  It’s my plan to have the updates written and scheduled to post a month in advance so I’m working on February’s updates this week.
  • Mentorship Planning Now, that I have my coursework planned out for Blogelina’s new 10-Week Blog Mentorship Program, I’ll spend this week putting together the materials for the course and will plan the events I have in mind for fun and effective ways for those participating in the program to increase their blog traffic.
  • Find 2 weekly Blog Hops to Participate In. And start participating in them.  In the past, I have found link-ups (like this post) to be a great way to draw in some new traffic to a blog.  I have a couple in mind that I would like to participate in and want to find any others out there that apply to my topics.  Then I’m putting the linkies on my weekly schedule to help me get the word out about new posts each week.

What Are Your Goals This Week? Let Us Know!

Either link to your own blog goal post in the Linky below (please link directly to your blog post and not just to your blog’s main page) – or leave a comment at the end of this post!  Then, take just 5 minutes or so and head over to someone else’s blog to leave an encouraging comment.

  1. I’ve been slow jumping on the Blogelina bandwagon… in the last month I wound up being slammed with everything imaginable (and unimaginable!) I’m looking forward to catching up – I’ve saved all the emails! Looking forward to the mentorship thing in February ;D

  2. I was able to achieve all my goals last week and even tackled some additional goals. This week is beyond crazy, somehow everything imaginable got scheduled into this week from dentist appts to field trips at school. So I made my goals fairly simple, manageable and hopefully I can get to most of them!

    • Kerry, it’s important to role with what life brings your way as you make your goals – it sounds like you’re doing a great job of being flexible!

  3. The only goal I set for my blog last week was to redesign my theme, and that’s what I did. I should make a list of 5 things for next week (this week is just so busy for me). I really like the guest blogging idea.

  4. My goal this week:
Learn more ways to engage readers and attract new readers. I have started networking heavily and that has absolutely helped, but I still feel like I’m missing opportunities so this week I want to talk with other bloggers that have “been there done that” to see if I can learn something new!

  5. My goal for this week is to establish stationary “pages” on my blog that correspond with the series I’ve launched last week. I want to make sure everything is organized so that people can find my posts easily. I also want to do more networking as I’ve noticed an increase of traffic on my blog by doing so.

Last week I completed my goals by completing my “about me” section as well as launched the start of my series.

  6. Hi Jaime,

I say you did great! I accomplished a few important tasks such as writing two new blog posts and my goal for this coming week is to submit two articles as guest posts and connect with at least 5 new people on Twitter and Facebook and spend more time engaging on relevant pages.

  7. So excited to get my goals done last week too! Work on this week:
~ Finish writing my weight loss series
~ Connecting with another fitness blog

  8. Only 2 priorities this week:
    1. Create a button for my blog – something I’ve put off too long already
    2. Begin a new e-book. I plan to use your advice, Tanya, and give my readers something free in return for signing up for my newsletter.

  9. I did good last week getting all my goals accomplished and hoping to be able to get everything done this week I would like to do. It is a new quarter starting in our homeschool this week so it always makes getting other things done a little more difficult. Also we are having snow here off and on. Snow doesn’t happened very often here so when we get it we tend to like to watch it fall.

    • Make sure that enjoying that snow fall is on your goals list for the week! We haven’t had much this year either so it’s a big deal when we get even a little.

  10. My goals for this week are to write and post a review policy, update my About Page, and retag my posts. I just moved from Blogger to WP (thank you for the GoDaddy hosting, Tanya!) and tags don’t move over.

  11. Last week I started facebook and twitter pages for my blog, even though I didn’t have that listed in my goals. I left comments on a couple sites I visited. I did manage to write a post all 5 weekdays last week, but I think I need to go back to 3 days a week, especially since I know the next couple months will be crazy with a new baby and all. So I guess goals for this week include writing a few “backup” posts for later and getting some more facebook and twitter followers. Also maybe listing my blog on some “blog directories.”

  12. Last week I accomplished all of my goals, except for the Facebook page, but I got a Twitter page first instead. I plan to get Facebook and Twitter but just switched the order on my goal list. When researching Facebook, I heard conflicting advice on whether I should get a personal or business page for my blog. I don’t really want to use my personal Facebook account for my blog, and was a little stuck. Since I don’t have a personal twitter account, I didn’t got that out of the way.

Attractica, which provides the free SEO tools from my hosting company says using a personal Facebook page is better because with a business page, your blog page can’t be found in search (really?), and you can’t friend people. Personally, I don’t want to friend people on my blog page, I hope people will freely choose to become “a fan.” I also heard personal pages limit you to 5000 friends, while business pages don’t have a limit. Based on what I know, I think I will ignore Attractica’s advice and go ahead and get a Facebook business page.

Now for the goals this week:

    1. Every week I publish 2 posts
    2. Every week I write 2 posts (written 1 month ahead of time).
    3. Create contact page with Fast Secure Contact Form (done)
    4. Re-write blog business plan (this may take 2 weeks to complete)
    5. Re-evaluate about page.

    • Angie, Blogelina has a business page and I know that I can find it in the search results from my personal account. Great work on your goals!

  13. I definitely want to write some more guest posts. In the last week I did two basic intro posts and one recipe post, but I want to create more tutorials posts. I also need to comment more on other blogs and via Facebook and Twitter.

  15. I’ve had my son’s wedding to deal with this month, so my goals have been minimal. Now that’s out of the way, watch out!

    My goals for 2012:
    1. Do at least 1 thing from my Blog To Do List each day.
    2. Set aside a minimum of 1 hour per day to work on my Blog.
    3. Write down my ideas for my blog as they occur in my special journal.
    4. Post a comment on another blogger’s site at least once a week.
    5. Plan my Blog topics this month.

Thanks, Blogelina, for this great class and all the wonderful help!

  16. I did not get any of my goals done last week but I slowly chipped away at my biggest one which is to get caught up in the Blogelina classes. This week I’d like to:

    1. Get caught up with Blogelina. I’m sick which believe it or not is acutally helping because my husband has taken over many baby duties and left me to rest with my laptop.

    2. Write three blog posts. This one carried over from last week when I only wrote one.

    3. Begin to work on my niche. I have so many interests and in the past have found it difficult to blog because I lose focus easily.

Good luck to everyone this week with their goals!

  17. I did pretty well on last week’s goals. This week:

    1. work my way through days 12 – 15 of the 31 days to a better blog ebook
    2. leave comments (thoughtful ones) everyday on at least one blog
    3. Write and publish 5 blog posts
    4. find a forum related to my blog topic that seems interesting to join
    5. work on editorial plan for February

  18. I love this idea. 5 goals seems really doable, but I can also see how the right 5 things could really make a big impact if you’re consistently making those small steps.

  19. Well, it’s already Tuesday and I’m partially finished with one of my goals with the rest to go! We also home school so sometimes it’s a struggle to blog, school and be a homemaker. It makes for interesting days!

With regard to my blog, I am researching how to do a Facebook landing page. My Twitter account is moving along but my Facebook ‘likes’ is pitifully low and I’m not sure why. I also planned out what posts I would do every day.

    Have a blessed week, everyone!

  20. Last week’s goals:
~Write one blog post each day (accomplished all but one day)
~Comment on a new blog each day (accomplished)
~Read one article about how to improve my readership (accomplished)

    This week’s goals:
~Write 4 blog posts during the weekdays (I’ve realized I need to give myself at least one break day!)
~Comment on a new blog each day
~Update my About Page so that I like it!

  21. My 2 goals for last week were:
    1. to write out a plan for my blog, including a few posts…..done!
    2. to finally get my technical difficulties fixed so that my blog shows up…..thankfully, last night my dear husband figured it all out and my site is now working!

    Next week’s goals:
    1. Get my posts that are currently handwritten up on the blog.
    2. Figure out how to get an RSS feed on my blog.

Question I have….. If I have a topic that I want to post each day during the week in order to get responses, is there a way to set up the daily posts to link so that the responses show up only in one place, or will the responses be on separate days’ posts?

    • Debi, you could have a category for these specific posts so that all those posts show up under that same category, but, off the top of my head, I can’t think of a way to have all the comments be in the same place and not on the different days’ posts.

  22. I am so very excited about your class this evening! Been wanting tips on how to make some cash money off my site and getting more traffic

  23. I didn’t really set goals for last week, but with family in town I didn’t have a lot of time for blogging anyway. I set some goals for this week, but it’s so hard to limit it! I know I have to set limits, though — like you, I have 2 kids under 4, and am busy, busy, busy!

  24. I am glad to say I finally got my 5 year goals written. Yeah! Now I really feel free to move forward. My goals for this week:
Write 4 blog posts and my about page. Wrote one and wrote my about page. Yeah. Three more to go.
    Go to class. Done.
Pursue set up of blog, writing and learning at least 1 1/2 hours a day.

  25. I really need to finish writing my book but swamped with so many other projects

  26. It’s so helpful to me to see the goals that other bloggers are setting for themselves. It provides perspective and encouragement for me, especially needful since I have relatively little time to devote to blogging (I’m a homeschooling mom of seven).

  27. I have a few goals that I had hoped to have done by now, but alas it is taking time for this brain of mine to learn something so different than what I’m used to. (i.e. I already had to delete wordpress and reinstall it because I messed something up).

    This week:
    1. Back up my blog – this is in progress as we speak … I think.
    2. Add an affiliate link – already signed up for one, but haven’t included it. I couldn’t sign up for the affiliate that I wanted, due to where I live, so I had to find an alternative. The joys of doing something new and learning the ropes.
    3. Find two related content blogs and post.
    4. Finish writing one of my “draft” pieces and schedule it to publish.
    5. Create a plan for my blog and write it down!

  28. Looking forward to these goals to spruce up my blog! Right now it is under construction but I love connecting with other blogger mamas out there.

    Thanks for sharing!
